Botulinum toxin (“Botox”) injections

Botulinum toxin injections are commonly referred to as “Botox,” which is a popular brand for this type of injection. The toxin is actually a protein produced by bacteria and is used in small doses to treat chronic migraines and muscle spasms and other neurological conditions.

To administer the injection, a physician uses a thin needle to inject tiny amounts of the toxin into specific muscles to help relax the muscle and reduce muscle contractions. Botox injections require no “down time,” which means you are able to drive, return to work and resume normal activities the same day as receiving the injections.

About Noma A. Rehman, MD

Noma Rehman, MD, is a board-certified neurologist who completed her psychiatry/internal medicine internship and neurology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science from Dow Medical College.

Prior to joining her previous practice Dr. Rehman practiced in Richmond for six years. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and an associate with the American College of Physicians. Dr. Rehman is married and has two sons.
